Super Saiyan 3
The stage that surpasses even Super Saiyan 2. It was first introduced by the series' main protagonist, Goku. When confronting Majin Buu in a stalling attempt, he soon realized that Super Saiyan 2 would no longer suffice. Goku then performed an Earth-shaking transformation which lasted for several minutes. The result was Super Saiyan 3. Goku's power proved more than a match for even Majin Buu. Goku however, didn't defeat Buu and instead announced a new challenger, after which he returned to the Lookout. Due to performing the Super Saiyan 3 transformation, Goku's remaining time on Earth greatly diminished as a result of the huge strain the form puts on the body. In the Other World, the Super Saiyan 3 form is said to be much easier to sustain. Throughout the remainder of the Buu Saga, Goku performed this transformation several more times, as well as in Dragonball Z movies 12 and 13, and Dragonball GT. The second character to perform this transformation was the fused warrior Gotenks, during his fight with Majin Buu.
Goku didn't use any new techniques in this form but due to his greatly increased power level, his strength, speed, and reflexes greatly increase. The same applies to Gotenks.
A large amount of difference occurs when this happens, it's clear when Goku first time ever transforms into the Super Saiyan 3 stage and faces Buu and succeeds in damaging him. Unlike most transformations Saiyans perform, to achieve Super Saiyan 3, the Saiyan only has to increase his/her's Ki, Super Saiyan 3 is technically a forced transformation, but is considered a transformation anyway. When transformed, the hair grows up until the knees and there's no longer any eyebrows. The eyes of a Super Saiyan 3 are green and with blond hair. Soon enough, there's an aura revolving around the Saiyan, with lighting bolts surrounding the Saiyan.
