[edit] Tips to Editing

This page goes in-depth into a few tips and tricks to editing a NeoWiki and many of the pages found on it. Not only will this page contain many tips to editing a NeoWiki page but it will also provide you with the coding, whether it's HTML or CSS, for each editing tip provided below. So just take the time to look at what tips you may find helpful and use them to help you in improving the way you edit NeoWiki pages.

[edit] Titles for Topics on a Page

You type this code This will appear

Insert Title for Topic Here1
*See here for example of the result to this code.

Insert Title for Topic Here
[edit] Insert Title for Topic Here

Insert Title for Topic Here
[edit] Insert Title for Topic Here

Insert Title for Topic Here
[edit] Insert Title for Topic Here

There are many ways to add topics to a NeoWiki page and one of the best and easiest ways to doing this would be to use one of the four codes shown above to bold and or add a division line to the topic you wish to add to the page.

[edit] Insert Title for Topic Here1

Also keep in mind that where is says Insert Title for Topic Here is where you would go ahead and delete that information and then add in the real title for the topic you wish to create but keep the rest of the information that was with what you deleted or the coding will not work.

[edit] Creating Anchors

You type this code
Link Name

Above is the code for creating an anchor. You ask, what is an anchor? An anchor is a link that is used mainly in a table of contents at the top of a page that has a great amount of information. The table of contents is then created to help those visiting the page to access specific information easier without having to scroll down the great amount of information on the page. In place of having to scroll down a page a table of contents is created with anchors used as the links for those to click on to be dropped down the page to a specific topic.

The anchor code allows those who want to use it to name their anchor but to use the code you need to follow a few steps to get it to work.

The Steps:

1. #Name of Title - is the part of the anchor that actually connects someone to the specific part of a page. To have a successful anchor the one creating the coding must use a #Name of Title or a Title that has been set up in one of the four codes used to format a title for a topic explained above.

This means that to have a successful anchor the title you plan to use must be highlighted in one of the four formats used to bold or add a line of division for a title that has been explained above with the coding provided for how to create these formats.

2. Link Name - is the part of the anchor that will actually be seen by those who choose to click the anchor's link. Link name should be changed to something that would be perfect for what information the link anchors to. For example if you were to create an anchor for the character Goku you would want to change the anchor's name from Link Name to Goku for those who look at the anchor will figure out that the anchor links to information about the character Goku. So on and so forth for every name you decided on for each anchor you create.

Remember: Titles to be linked must include coding of titles for topics explained in the coding above the anchor coding.

[edit] Link back to Hub Page

You type You get
<div style="font-size:10px"><< Back to Main Page.</div>
<< Back to Main Page.

Use the code shown above to create pages that can link back to the page before it. The idea of using a link back will destroy any pages that are dead-end pages. What are dead-end pages? Dead-end pages are those pages that a visitor clicks on and then finds out there are no links back to the page he/she was on before so they are forced to start all over back at the main page using the link, if they can find it, on the navigation table to the left of the page. Dead-end pages are just a tedious task that creates some anger and extra time that members have to spend on a NeoWiki looking up a simple hint or tip that they need to help them with their game or research on the topic.

Overall, Dead-end pages are not what we want here in the Dragon Ball NeoWiki so it would be suggested that if you decide to contribute a new page that you remember to add a link back to whatever page before it.

[edit] Creating a Link or Page

You type
Link Name
[[Full Link Name|Short Link Name]

Above are two different codes used to create a link to another page on a NeoWiki. The first code is a short version of what someone would use to create another page on the NeoWiki and the second code is a longer version with a few more features than the short version. The second code has the feature of changing the name of the link that members will see on the page but not changing the name of the page that was made. Here's what I mean.

For example: If a page had been made with the link name of Gohan but for some reason you didn't want that to appear as the title for the link when someone clicks on it so you add the "|" between the full link name and the short link name to change the link name without changing the real name of the page so in result you type Goku's Son in the short link name side to change the name that will appear for the link on the page. So the link on the page will now appear to be named Goku's Son instead of Gohan but the true page name will stay the same.

[edit] Font size for text

You type You get
<div style="font-size:10px"><< Back to Main Page.</div>
<< Back to Main Page.

<div style="font-size:12px"><< Back to Main Page.</div>

<< Back to Main Page.

When using the codes provided above the portion of the code including "Insert text here" is what needs to be taken out and filled in with whatever text you plan to use for whatever size you want it to be.

Remember: Font sizes can go up to 4.

So to get to font sizes 3 and 4 simply change "font size=1" in the coding to "font size=3" and "font size=4" of the very first code found in the box shown above. It's just that simple!

[edit] Table Codes for Arranging Pictures

Use the code shown above to arrange pictures in a table on any page in the NeoWiki. The width of the table, the border size, the background color, and much more can be toggled with in the picture arranging table. Another cool feature is you can change the border size to "0" so that no border appears and the pictures simply look to appear in a fancy order one next to the other at the top of a page or anywhere on the page. This type of organization helps to make a page look more professional.

Also keep in mind that the code shown above could only be used for four pictures in a row but if you wanted to have five simply add another line of: !style="background: #FFFFFF;color:#000;"| to the link and so on for as many pictures as you want to use. Keep in mind if you end up deleting the |} portion the code will not work. So don't forget to keep that apart of the code and you'll do fine!

[edit] Table Codes for Anchor Links

Use the code shown above to create a complete table. Complete tables can be used for the arrangement of pictures but it's mainly used to create a table of information so that the information is organized in a professional manner. Play around with the coding of a complete table to figure out exactly how to use the code and the table. It's not too difficult and in time you will figure it out.

If your someone who is still stuck on how to use this code don't be afraid to PM me for I'm always here to help. -TRN

[edit] Infobox

title =

image =

imagecaption = North American Box Shot (or others)

label1 = Developer

data1 =

label2 = Publisher

data2 =

label3 = Platform

data3 =

label4 = Release Date(s)

data4 =

label5 = Genre

data5 =

label6 = Rating

data6 =

label7 = Other Captions

data7 =

Now were to the part of the code for an infobox that can be used on a page about a game. Infoboxs are mainly used to provide information on a game that is organized in a nice manner including many background information features to a game. Use the infobox code to create an infobox in any game page that you find that doesn't have one.

This concludes the tips to editing page for all those who visit the Dragon Ball NeoWiki. In time other tips on editing with codes and such will be added for now use what is provided to your advantage contributors for reading and getting to know these codes will not be a waist of time. Actually they could help you a lot in gaining possible awareness from others who may want to add you to their staff or their wikis.

Good luck and continue contributing!
